Orecchiette is a kind of home-made pasta typical of Puglia, Apulia,a region of Southern Italy. Its name comes from its shape, which reminds one of a small ear. In Italian, orecchio, means ear, and the suffix 'etto' means 'small'. In the vernacular of Taranto recchietedde, or chiancaredde. An 'orecchietta' is a disc of about 2 cm (¾ inch) and looks like a small dome with its center thinner than its edge and a with a rough surface.

Capunti is a short pasta (inch and a half long) that sort of looks like a small canoe.

Maccheroni is fucking maccaroni, like that found in Kraft dinner.

Pecorino is the name of a family of hard Italian cheeses made from sheep's milk. The word derives from pecora meaning ‘sheep’.

Agrodolce is a traditional sweet and sour sauce in Italian cuisine. Its name comes from "agro" (sour) and "dolce" (sweet). The sauce is thought to have been brought to Sicily by the Arabs.

Pingue coppa with cantaloupe and taralli

Yup.. you guessed it. Going to OSTERIA CICERI E TRIA and looked at their menu beforehand a) because I heard it changes daily b) I was bored. So, learned a few new idiotic things!

Cuttlefish (link) Cuttlefish are much more closely related to garden slugs and snails than they are to fish! They belong to the same group of animals as the octopuses, squid and nautilus and like a snail they are all molluscs.

Cuttlefish are unique within this group in that they have a gas filled bone within their bodies which allows them to be buoyant... you may have seen cuttlebones before, sticking out from the bars on a budgie's cage? The bone is within the body part of the animal called the mantle and attached to the mantle is a head with eight arms and two feeding tentacles.

Sea Bream are a variety of fish species that are very popular for eating, especially in Europe.
